Information Technology Specialist

As an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), you will:
Conduct tasks that support the Office of Corporate Business Systems (CBS) and CBS Program. Activities include, but are not limited to, Project Management, Cyber Security, IT Budget, Enterprise Architecture, Continuity of Operations, and Contract Administration. Provides technical guidance, services, technologies, advice, and recommendations concerning routine or uncomplicated issues or situations to federal and contractor IT professionals maintaining DOE systems, networks, and connectivity. Ensure continuity in operations and the rigorous application of information management/information security/cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of planning and management services. Cultivate and maintain knowledge on current and emerging technologies and evaluate their impact on DOE networks and systems. Prepare briefings on aspects of assigned programs and projects, and reviews, prepare and coordinate correspondence, reports, memoranda, directives, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to assigned technical areas. BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

Problem Solving- Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Applying a wide range of information technology techniques, analysis, and procedures to audit, evaluate, implement, and disseminate cyber security tools. Interpreting and assisting customers on information technology policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent, and defend against unauthorized access to systems, applications, and data. Assisting in performing risk assessments and executing tests of data processing system to ensure functioning of data processing activities and security measures. OR Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree; OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree. Skill in identifying and resolving issues and problems. Skill in evaluating established methods and procedures and prepare recommendations for changes in methods and practices where appropriate; and ensure the application of appropriate security measures to each assignments. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include:
volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
