As a Supervisory Security Specialist, you will:
Oversee and manage security policy operations and staff responsible for establishing policies, procedures and guidance for DOE-wide security. Develop general and specific objectives, milestones, and resource requirements to meet established goals and ensures availability of adequate documentation describing the program, its goals, objectives, and milestones. Plan, manage, and direct programs focused on overall security policy issues relating to the safeguards and security programs. Provide liaison with security policy and implementation elements within the National Nuclear Security Administrations and Departmental Program Offices to facilitate the consistent protection and control of national security assets. Serve as or provides liaison for DOE security matters with other U.S. government agencies, including the White House and the Congress of the United States, U.S. state and local governments, and the security organizations of other countries. Provide subject matter expert input to safeguards and security technology development programs and to Departmental elements for all safeguards and security topical areas. Provide subject matter experts and DOE representation for inter- and intra-agency security policy development, including development of Government-wide security policy. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSA qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Experience directing, coordinating, and managing information security policy, including implementing information security directives; Experience overseeing and directing of security policy operations, procedures and guidance for DOE-wide security; and Experience overseeing and directing security programs and providing expert advice, assistance and guidance for vulnerability assessments, risk assessments, safeguards and security clarifications and consultations. Mastery of safeguards and security requirements, policies, and issues to serve as a recognized authority. In-depth and comprehensive knowledge of the full range of security regulations, policies, and procedures. In-depth knowledge and understanding of the operations, processes, mission, and safeguards and security conditions at Departmental facilities to determine the current posture of safeguards and security; identify the weaknesses and strengths in policy implementation; and provide consultation regarding security matters. Outstanding skill and analytical ability to analyze new concepts, identify problem areas, and apply new concepts and techniques to security problems previously resistant to solution by more typical methods. Knowledge and ability to communicate ideas and recommendations to senior Government officials in a way that supports acceptance of positions and recommendations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include:
volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
