As a Supervisory Accountant, you will perform the following duties:
Serve as a senior accountant and technical advisor independently providing professional accounting operations services to the Accounting Operations Division (AOD) to include; preparation, examination, analysis, presentation, and interpretation of accounting data, records, and reports. Identify the need for new or revised operating policies and procedures; identify problems and advise supported organizations; develop accounting operating guidelines; and provide authoritative policy interpretation and functional recommendations relating to the effectiveness of accounting operations. Review and analyze new legislation and policy proposals to determine the impact on current operations. Compile and submit financial statements required by local budget, supply management, and higher headquarter activities to ensure the integrity of funds. Advise financial/program managers and other accountants on difficult accounting situations/problems, examine internal control systems to identify problem areas and determine action to improve operations effectiveness. Serve as leader supervising team leads, distributing workload among staff and mentor employees; identify problem area, priorities and deadlines. Plan work schedules, assign and review work, arrange training and development, and evaluate work performance of other accountants in the organization. Degree:
Accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term accounting means accounting and/or auditing in this standard. Similarly, accountant should be interpreted, generally, as accountant and/or auditor.)ORCombination of education and
Experience:
at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law; A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements. Experience:
Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.To qualify at the ZA-4 or GS-13 level:

Experience:
One full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZA-3 or GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:
Overseeing staff by:
planning, assigning, and reviewing work, arranging training and development and evaluating employee performance; Advising workforce on accounting issues pertaining to the examination, analysis and interpretation of accounting data; and Analyzing new legislation and proposed policy changes to determine impact on current operations.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
