As a Uranium Specialist, you will:
Serve as an technical expert and advisor in Uranium and Nuclear fuel markets and technology. Support Nuclear Energy's uranium policy objectives in uranium recovery, conversion, and enrichment processes. Plan, organize and manage development efforts. Assess and demonstrate effectiveness of new concepts and ideas. Direct research, development, program planning, scheduling and implementation of assigned projects. Formulate overall concepts, explain, interpret, justify, and implement Department of Energy (DOE) uranium and nuclear fuel policies and objectives. Represent DOE on interagency task forces, committees and other groups or conferences related to uranium technical and policy issues. Conduct analysis of uranium supply and demand and other nuclear fuel market related activities. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSA qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Planning, organizing, and managing program related to uranium and nuclear fuel policies and projects; Maintaining expertise in current uranium and nuclear fuel activities within government organizations and the privet sector; Communicating information to diverse audiences on establishing or proposed uranium and nuclear fuel programs and policies; AND Analyzing uranium and nuclear fuel markets. Mastery knowledge of business/trade practices in the front-end of the nuclear fuel cycle industry including contracting practices for nuclear fuel products and services, as well as the characteristics and use of equipment and products and industrial production methods and processes; of the nuclear energy generation industry; the conduct of studies; and the establishment and maintenance of contacts with industry. Mastery of the application of quantitative and/or qualitative methods to conduct technical, economic, and policy studies of the front-end of the nuclear fuel cycle to assess:
(1) the impact of policy proposals to reinvigorate the domestic nuclear fuel industries, (2) the adequacy of and risks related to nuclear fuel, including low enriched uranium (LEU) and high assay low enriched uranium (HALEU) for research and development of advanced reactors; and (3) the impact of DOE's excess uranium inventories on the domestic uranium mining, conversion or enrichment industries. Knowledge and experience in nuclear program management to resolve technical, business, and administrative problems encountered, and to ensure the timely and successful attainment of goals. Expert in uranium recovery, conversion, and uranium enrichment processes, and related technology development and nuclear fuel planning activities, be widely recognized as authority in the area. Expert capability in uranium and nuclear fuel market dynamics, supply and demand, uranium production economics, nuclear fuel procurement mechanisms and practices, and uranium inventory management. Knowledge of nuclear fuel facility operations, maintenance, and economics to evaluate costs related to operation and shutdown of these facilities and an understanding of the impacts of Federal, State, Tribal and international regulations on these facilities and their economics and operations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include:
volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
