As a Computer Scientist, you will:
Develop the vision for long-term computer science research to address the increasingly diverse and complex future high performance computing environments. Serve as Program Manager determining scientific focus and direction of assigned areas of computer science, preparing calls for proposals. Serve as a recognized scientific computing authority and expert resource in computer science research. Prepare, justify, and support the portions of the budget relating to computer science. Select and ascertain the qualifications and suitability of peer reviews for proposed new programs and on-going programs. Evaluate the comprehensives, balance, appropriateness and applicability of the reviews received. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSA qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Administering fundamental research programs in applied mathematics, computer science, networking, and advanced scientific computing software tools. Serving as a resource in computer science, in areas such as programming environments, runtime systems, methodologies and tools for high performance and highly distributed computing. Providing guidance on research needs and opportunities against scientific and technological advances, particularly in the combining artificial intelligence and machine learning to develop an adaptive high performance and distributed computing software ecosystem that includes intelligent edge devices such as sensors and detectors. Justifying, planning, initiating, and coordinating a broad range of collaboration technology, and/or the supporting middleware research. Knowledge and understanding of research activities and functions to direct groups involved in scientific research and collaborative activities. Knowledge and skills to plan, direct, and evaluate new and highly complex basic research programs and policies which can be an environment when difficult decisions must be made for which projects should receive funding or additional funding. Knowledge and skill in planning, budgeting, justifying, and allocating funds among a variety of competing scientific research programs and/or projects. Knowledge and skill in effectively communicating, orally and in writing, to prepare analytical documents and research findings. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include:
volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
