As an Interdisciplinary Supervisory General Engineer/Physical Scientist, you will:
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty, and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees Evaluates work performance of subordinates. Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Interviews candidates for positions in the unit; recommends appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions. Hears and resolves complaints from employees, referring group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher level supervisor or manager. Effects minor disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands, recommending other action in more serious cases. Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training. Finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed. Develops performance standards. To be eligible for the Supervisory General Engineer/Physical Scientist at the GS-15 grade level, you must meet both the education and specialized experience requirements. Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. For the GS-15, a qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service in one of the following areas:
Experience in managing and administering a research, development, and demonstration and analysis program in advanced coal-based power technologies and systems for commercialization by the private sector. Mastery of and ability to apply advanced professional engineering or physical science concepts, theories, principles, practices, methods and techniques, which includes knowledge of a broad range of engineering or physical science disciplines such as materials and environmental engineering. The broad knowledge and expertise in the preceding disciplines, and crosscutting R&D and system integration that incumbent possesses will be used to implement new energy efficient technology development, testing, and deployment programs. Advanced knowledge of program management and oversight techniques to facilitate program planning, strategic development, and integrate technical requirements. Knowledge of techniques and ability to encourage the wider adoption of emerging energy efficient technologies into the general public. Mastery and skill in effectively communicating to all energy stakeholders program activities, program/project goals and objectives, and prepare/deliver complex technical briefings to senior level officials and communicate with groups and individuals at all levels. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include:
volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
