Optomi, in partnership with a defense, security, space, and aerospace company in their Germantown, MD location is a seeking a Junior IT Security Engineer
The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting information systems security risk and mitigation assessments and assisting with the ongoing development of information systems security strategies, plans, and related domain architecture in support of various state agencies and organizations.

Must be able to obtain a secret clearance
2 years of experience working in an enterprise work environment
Knowledge and/or understanding associated with security products, including but not limited to firewalls, IDS, VPN and security testing tools, including, but not limited to vulnerability scanners and sniffers

Qualifications:
Knowledge of network and web related protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, routing protocols)
Experience managing and maintaining firewalls.
Basic knowledge of system security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques, including penetration testing and the development of exploits.
Scripting skills (e.g., PERL, shell scripting, PowerShell)
Experience with Wire shark and pcap.
Experience with Squid, Snort, or other Open Source software.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
