Position
Summary:This is a Laboratory Technician position within the NIDDK contract of Fisher BioServices.
Aliquots biological samples according to client specifications.
Receives, inventories, and withdraws biological specimens of human origin at temperatures ranging from -196oC to ambient.
Unpacks, checks, and places incoming samples into the appropriate storage locations.
Enters sample data into an inventory management system.
Pulls and prepares biological samples for shipment; complies with IATA and DOT regulations for packaging and shipping diagnostic and infectious specimen.
Performs QC checks for back up samples and transfers samples to redundant storage locations.
Responds to and documents freezer alarms; may be asked to be on-call after hours to monitor freezer alarms.
Assists with laboratory and repository maintenance and upkeep.
Assists with administrative functions.
Minimum Requirements/
Qualifications:
Education/Training- Bachelors Degree in life science or two years laboratory/repository experience.
Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of methods to handle, process, and store specimens using a computerized storage and retrieval system;
Experience with computers and applications such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Access);
Knowledge of Universal Precautions and general laboratory and quality control/assurance procedures;
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technical and professional personnel.
Working Conditions- Laboratory, office, and warehouse
Physical Requirements
Sit at a biological safety cabinet for six hours per day.
Wear personal protective equipment up to eight hours per day (e.g. safety glasses/goggles, face shields, latex/nitrile gloves, laboratory gown).
Process and handle frozen materials on dry ice (-78 C) or liquid nitrogen (-196 C) for up to 8 hours per day.
Use a computer up to six hours per day.
Lift and carry a minimum of 40 lbs.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
