We're looking for a developing, innovative Electrical Engineer, to assist in planning, designing and directing electrical engineering projects within the Design Department.
Responsibility will includeperforming specific tasks on project teams.
You'll rely on your education, creativity and expertise to resolve engineering problems and tasks as assigned; and more experienced staff will be available to provide direction when needed.
As you grow in your electrical engineering career, you'll prepare design computations and quantity estimates and develop probable construction cost estimates for the smaller, less complex projects within the business unit (medium voltage power distribution, low voltage systems, fire alarm systems, backup power generation, electrical power distribution, life safety systems, etc.
).
You'll also use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.
).
Making calculations will require use of engineering formulas and skills for design such as lighting calculations, power distribution calculations, equipment sizing, etc.
Based in Germantown, MD, you'll research design options and document findings for the Project Designer/Engineer.
Some drawings you'll create yourself, and other sketches will be incorporated into drawings by drafters.
You may create specialized drawings such as electrical riser diagrams.
These drawings and designs must be done in accordance with company production and design standards.
You'll then select equipment based on Project Designer/Engineer recommendations and fill out equipment schedules.
When code issues arise, you'll research them and ask general questions of code officials.
We'll rely on you to modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies and designs for projects and organize and maintain files.
You'll keep the Project Manager informed of work load and any changes in project scope or additional services for incorporation into specifications.
You'll be able to work locally from home or from the Germantown, MD office.
You'll be expected to travel for meetings and site visits (around 15-20% of your time).

Qualifications & Requirements:
REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS /WORK EXPERIENCEEngineering/design experience in the building design industry (for example:
lighting systems, fire alarm systems, branch circuitry, etc.
).
Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year College or University.
EIT or Professional engineer (PE) is strongly preferred.
Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer aided drafting (AutoCAD/Revit).
General knowledge of Electrical system design and applicable codes.
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETYTravel duration, if any, is based on project complexity and location.
This position is a safety sensitive position.
The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research or other non-administrative areas.
