A' VSS is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Security Engineer to join our team to support our growing federal government business line.
This position can be performed remotely with occasional travel to our DC metro offices and client jobsites.
A' A' Job DescriptionThe engineer will create engineering designs to support federal government programs to include:
system design, product selection, hardware and software integrations related to electronic security systems.
Attend pre and post award site surveys, conduct threat assessments, and risk analysis.
Can work well independently and as part of the engineering team.
A' Experience in the design of physical security systems to include:
physical access control systems, closed-circuit television, intrusion detection systems, security communications systems, fiber optics/copper network communications systems, communications backbones, wireless applications and perimeter protection.
A' Experience creating network and system diagrams for low voltage systems and IP-based security devices supporting multi-site electronic security system and network infrastructure.
A' Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard physical security engineering techniques, procedures and criteria using best judgement in making adaptations and modifications.
A' Reviews scope of work, bid drawings and customer specifications to fully understand all requirements of the design.
A' Creates detailed engineering drawing packages to meet customer specifications and delivers a high quality product on time and within the engineering budget.
A' Routinely creates, reviews and corrects engineering drawing packages, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, typical drawings, device schedules and riser diagrams.
A' Creates and submits RFI questions to internal and external customers to verify design parameters.
A' Performs security and engineering analysis, research, calculations, and studies required to develop security system concepts of design.
Performs site visits and all necessary fieldwork to verify actual existing conditions and to ensure compatibility with the proposed security system design.
Prepares drawings in sketch form with sufficient information to be developed by the Security Designers into final CAD drawings.
Provides the Security Designers with all required information to complete the final drawings.
A' Reviews the drawings prepared by the Security Designers on an on-going basis and is responsible for its accuracy and technical content.
Creates as-built drawings from field red-line markups and coordinates with field personnel to produce complete and accurate as-built drawings.
Answers technical installation and integration questions from project managers, technicians and subcontractors to support the operations department and ensure that the security design is properly implemented.
A' Works with OEM product vendors, distributors and consultants to develop and maintain an extensive product knowledge to develop the best technical solutioningA' and stay up-to-date on the latest security products and trends.
Authors engineering narratives, concepts-of-design and operational concepts.
A' Travel domestically to jobsites may be required up to 15% of the time.

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Excellent communicate skills in the English language, both verbal and written.
A' Ability to communicate advanced technical concepts in a common sense manner to A' non-technical audiences.
Currently holds, or the ability to obtain, a security clearance.
A minimum of seven years engineering experience in electronic security system design.
A' A thorough understanding of physical security systems integration, barriers, access control, intrusion detection, CCTV, lighting, alarm monitoring systems, communications, electrical power, surge protection and grounding.
Familiarity with Federal Government requirements for physical access control credential management (HSPD-12, FICAMS, and FIPS-201-2).
A' Ability to work within a team environment or work alone with minimum supervision.
Strong problem solving skills and the ability to think outside the box and suggest alternate technical solutions.
A' Self-motivated individual with a strong technical and interpersonal skills, and a history of professional growth and increased responsibility.
Experienced in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Visio and Teams and can use various search engines effectively.
A' ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP) Certification or similar a plus.
Proven interest in maintaining skills by active participation in engineering and/or security societies and other activities related to security.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
